Sensory Sunday: Issue 1
Are you seeking fun and engaging activities for your learner(s) this summer? Welcome to the Sensory Sunday series. During this series, I will show you how to make simple, cheap, and engaging sensory activities for your learners.
Today’s issue will be all about honey bee sensory play.
What You Will Need: Optional:
-jello (yellow or orange) -resin letters (LindleysCustomCreations)
-container -honey jar (Target)
-rigatoni noodles -honey bee add-ins (Target)
-tools (spoons, pinchers, etc.)
Step 1:
First, you need to make your jello and pour it into your container. I used a metal pan from Dollar Tree. You could use Tupperware, a bowl, or any type of container holding the jello.
Step 2:
Put in any add-ins like letters, bees, and more.
Step 3:
Put your jello in the fridge. (I did this overnight).
Step 4:
When your jello is ready, you can add more letters and add-ins, as well as your rigatoni noodles to create the honeycomb.
Step 5:
Set up outside or in the tub as it will get messy. Give your learners all the tools and containers and let them have fun.
You can add as much or as little to this activity as you want. You can add books about honey bees like these ones:
You can have them spell words, complete mathematics equations, and more. I also have some honey bee resources that could be used in tandem with this activity.
Stay tuned for next week's issue. In the meantime, enjoy your learners.
